I am right there. I still don’t have a costume for HallowMEME tomorrow and I’ve spent all week being anxious that I have no good ideas while not doing the sensible thing and actually going to a costume place to look at things. HELP.

Ahem. Me. Every year.

Another long Sunday run

A few interesting things happened on my long run today …

I ran 18.5 miles: my longest run of the year and no pain in my foot/leg!

I finally ran through the Frederick cemetery - it’s huge. Despite frequently driving past Civil War battlefields and working in a building where all the meeting rooms are named after battlefields, for some reason I wasn’t expecting to see so many Civil War graves and confederate flags.

I discovered the music of Dan Deacon, a Baltimore resident, and a number of his musical influences via the latest issue of All Songs Considered.

I then moved on to another episode of All Songs Considered and for the last mile and a half of my run listened to the bizarre 10 minute Mother of the World by Swans. The first 5 or 6 minutes is a short riff played over and over and over and over again. I think it put me into a trance - perhaps I should listen to it on repeat during my upcoming marathon …

Mariah Carey And Justin Bieber Tell A Christmas Story Of Terror And Mob Rule : Monkey See

npr:

Blogger Linda Holmes (@nprmonkeysee) explains what Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber are doing in their new video that premiered last night.

Here’s a taste: 0:13 Mariah “Mannequin” Carey is standing against a fake stone wall next to a pile of presents. In the spirit of holiday charity, she has given her pants to the poor and is now getting by on a bra she recovered from the lost and found and a Christmas tree skirt. Purely fortuitously, they match. The hat, she stole from the Macy’s department-store Santa she has beaten up and locked in a closet.

Check out the rest.

Also, give Linda a hand because Monkey See won an Eppy award! — Tanya
